To prevent countertop cracking, follow rules on material selection, slab thickness, installation support, thermal management and safe operation. Cracks are mainly caused by improper stone choice, uneven support, thermal shock and stress concentration.
Prevent Countertop Cracking — Key Guidelines
Countertop cracking rarely comes from the induction magnetic field itself. It mostly results from material mismatch, uneven structural support, thermal backflow from cookware, stress concentration or poor fabrication. Our invisible cooktop with NFC anti-crack design minimizes thermal stress, while proper material & installation are critical.
✅ 1. Select qualified countertop material & thickness
- Recommended: 12mm / 15mm porcelain (Dekton type). Stable thermal expansion, best anti-crack performance.
- Not recommended: marble, metal-containing stone.
- Keep consistent slab thickness; avoid uneven thickness on cooking zones.
✅ 2. Maintain safety distance from seams, edges & cutouts
- The cooking zone must stay away from slab seams, sink cutouts and counter edges.
- Keep minimum safe clearance to any joint / cut to avoid stress concentration.
- Do NOT place cooking area across a counter seam.
✅ 3. Even & full under-slab support (critical)
- Cabinets must be perfectly level. No sagging or hollow space under the cooking zone.
- Add reinforced supporting frame under the induction unit to avoid slab bending under heavy pots.
- Use vibration isolation rubber pads between hob and counter bottom to reduce mechanical stress.
✅ 4. Ventilation & thermal control (our NFC anti-crack core)
- Our built-in NFC temperature sensors monitor slab bottom temperature in real time. It cuts power automatically once over threshold to avoid thermal shock.
- Keep required airflow clearance under the induction unit; blocked ventilation causes accumulated residual heat.
- Optional thermal spacer mat between pan and countertop creates micro air gap, reduces heat transfer back to stone.
